| Chapter 111 | Thorns | |
| 5 Verses | al-Masad | الـمسد |
| 1 | In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. May the hands of Abu Lahab be ruined, and ruined is he. | بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ تَبَّتْ يَدَآ أَبِى لَهَبٍ وَتَبَّ |
| 2 | His wealth will not avail him or that which he gained. | مَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُ مَالُهُۥ وَمَا كَسَبَ |
| 3 | He will [enter to] burn in a Fire of [blazing] flame | سَيَصْلَىٰ نَارًا ذَاتَ لَهَبٍ |
| 4 | And his wife [as well] – the carrier of firewood. | وَٱمْرَأَتُهُۥ حَمَّالَةَ ٱلْحَطَبِ |
| 5 | Around her neck is a rope of [twisted] fiber. | فِى جِيدِهَا حَبْلٌ مِّن مَّسَدٍۭ |
