| Chapter 87 | The Most High | |
| 19 Verses | al-A’la | الأعـلى |
| 1 | In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. Exalt the name of your Lord, the Most High, | بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ سَبِّحِ ٱسْمَ رَبِّكَ ٱلْأَعْلَى |
| 2 | Who created and proportioned | ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ |
| 3 | And who destined and [then] guided | وَٱلَّذِى قَدَّرَ فَهَدَىٰ |
| 4 | And who brings out the pasture | وَٱلَّذِىٓ أَخْرَجَ ٱلْمَرْعَىٰ |
| 5 | And [then] makes it black stubble. | فَجَعَلَهُۥ غُثَآءً أَحْوَىٰ |
| 6 | We will make you recite, [O Muhammad], and you will not forget, | سَنُقْرِئُكَ فَلَا تَنسَىٰٓ |
| 7 | Except what Allah should will. Indeed, He knows what is declared and what is hidden. | إِلَّا مَا شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ يَعْلَمُ ٱلْجَهْرَ وَمَا يَخْفَىٰ |
| 8 | And We will ease you toward ease. | وَنُيَسِّرُكَ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ |
| 9 | So remind, if the reminder should benefit; | فَذَكِّرْ إِن نَّفَعَتِ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ |
| 10 | He who fears [Allah] will be reminded. | سَيَذَّكَّرُ مَن يَخْشَىٰ |
| 11 | But the wretched one will avoid it – | وَيَتَجَنَّبُهَا ٱلْأَشْقَى |
| 12 | [He] who will [enter and] burn in the greatest Fire, | ٱلَّذِى يَصْلَى ٱلنَّارَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ |
| 13 | Neither dying therein nor living. | ثُمَّ لَا يَمُوتُ فِيهَا وَلَا يَحْيَىٰ |
| 14 | He has certainly succeeded who purifies himself | قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَن تَزَكَّىٰ |
| 15 | And mentions the name of his Lord and prays. | وَذَكَرَ ٱسْمَ رَبِّهِۦ فَصَلَّىٰ |
| 16 | But you prefer the worldly life, | بَلْ تُؤْثِرُونَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا |
| 17 | While the Hereafter is better and more enduring. | وَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَىٰٓ |
| 18 | Indeed, this is in the former scriptures, | إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَفِى ٱلصُّحُفِ ٱلْأُولَىٰ |
| 19 | The scriptures of Abraham and Moses. | صُحُفِ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَمُوسَىٰ |
